Titanic: Honor and Glory – Demo 3 – Third Class Dining Saloon
With its bare Litosilo floors, exposed steel hull, bulkheads, and deck heads, simple tables and cramped seating, this is where Titanic’s many steerage passengers took their meals. It was accessed via Scotland Road on the deck above, and was serviced by a galley that was far more modest than the one for First and Second Class. The saloon was actually two saloons. They were separated by a watertight bulkhead down the center and had their own staircases. On Titanic, Third Class single men and Third Class families and single women were kept separated, the former in the bow and the latter in the stern. Due to the odd arrangement of the stairs, the aft half of the saloon was for the men, and the fore half was for families and women.
