i. we don’t fit in well, ‘cause we are just ourselves ii. do you think there’s anybody up high, looking down, watching us, wishing we’d enjoy the ride? iii. everybody told me love was blind, then i saw your face and you blew my mind iv. clear blue water, high tide came and brought you in v. in the arms of the ocean, deliver me (never let me go) vi. i found what i’d been looking for in myself, found a life worth living for someone else vii. you taught me the courage of stars before you left viii. time slipped away, we stayed the same, like you were never gone ix. love is beauty, love is pure, love pays no mind to desolation, it flows like a river through the soul, protects, perceives, and perseveres

“i just realized i already knew,” and “at least i’m with you,” are the most underrated jackrose quotes and that’s just the facts

You’re trembling…”

“Don’t worry… I’ll be alright…”

“Look…So beautiful…”

“So there’s no uh, there’s no ‘arrangement’, is there?”

“No there is… not that you’ll benefit much from it…”

caledon hockley invented being a shady bitch – 1/??

I wonder how the plot of the movie would have pressed forward had the ship never hit the iceberg? (Granted, the movie probably wouldn’t have been made if the actual ship didn’t.) You have any thoughts? I recently rewatched the movie for the first time in years and forgot how it could suck me under. It’s still such a good movie!

I think Jack and Rose would have stayed on deck, and then maybe headed down to third class to stay warm, possibly have another dance party, and ditched the jacket Jack had “stolen” somewhere down below, where there was no way to trace it back to him (not on purpose, of course, but just out of absent mindedness) and possibly they could have gone to his room to talk about things.

Cal would have framed him anyway, and Jack probably would have been caught, but I think Lovejoy would have had a harder time slipping the diamond into his pant pocket – he would have felt it and immediately told Rose, who would have believed him. I think, having known the truth, if Cal had still tried to say that Jack had taken it, Rose would have claimed she took it instead and utterly humiliate him.

“It is my necklace after all. My betrothed gave it to me.”

After the officers left, if Jack and Rose didn’t leave with them, there might have been an altercation in the room – Cal lunging for Rose in anger, Jack pushing him away and punching him right in the face possibly, or if Cal starts hitting Jack, Rose comes to his rescue – but either way, the lovers get out possibly a little scrapped up but alright, and Ruth is horrified by Cal’s behaviour. (Because I truly think she didn’t know just how bad he was to her.)

Maybe Thomas Andrews vouches for them and makes sure Cal can’t hurt either of them – he does seem fond of Jack too – until they dock in New York. Rose takes Jack’s name on the register, and then they head into town to make it official. Molly Brown and Thomas Andrews both give them a little cash, and they rent a place with Fabrizio and Helga for the first few months.

I could probably continue with the headcanons of a post-landing life forever so I’ll stop here, but I did write the first three chapters of a Jack Lives AU over here in case you’d like to read it. I might write more of it someday, so I’m not going to promise anything, but it’s short and sweet so I hope you enjoy it, if you do decide to read it 🙂
